Coaching Skills

The Mandana Group has designed a comprehensive program where managers are selected, trained and then serve as coaches within their organization. The program consists of:

1. Coaching Skills: A 1-2 day training workshop with multiple exercises for practicing coaching skills.

  • Coaching Basics
  • Listening and Inquiry
  • Exploring Internal Stance
  • Checking Assumptions
  • Clarifying Goals
  • Providing Feedback
  • Identifying and Exploring Options

2. Coaches begin meeting with their assigned coachees

3. Coaching Clinics: 2 hour sessions held every 3 months

  • Assessing the coaching relationship
  • What's working? What's difficult?
  • Increasing directness in conversations

4. Evaluation

  • Coach and coachee discuss their experience
  • Coaches receive feedback from their coachees
  • The coaching program is evaluated
  • Coachees are invited to become coaches (providing they meet the criteria) and the coaching program cycle begins again

5. Objectives:

  • Increase manager’s abilities to effectively coach and mentor staff members
  • Build managerial back-up strength
  • Encourage a culture of development, constructive feedback and collegial support
